Each of your breaths is a priceless jewel, since each of them is
irreplaceable and, once gone, can never be retrieved. Do not be like the
deceived fools who are joyous because each day their wealth increases while
their life shortens. What good is an increase in wealth when life grows
ever shorter? Therefore be joyous only for an increase in knowledge or in
good works, for they are your two companions who will accompany you in your
grave when your family, wealth, children and friends stay behind. -Imam
Ghazali

excellent article... short 'n' sweet! if only we all shared this outlook. yes, most of us KNOW its true, but how many of us realy understand its implications? and even among those who do, who acts upon them? very few people. in fact, most of us dont even bother 2 think about such a 'depressing' thing, until we can feel deaths heat... maybe thats what we need, a cancer scare or something, anything 2 wake us up 2 the reality of death. we work work work, or study study study, or play play play, and these things become our lives, and then we pray our salah like robots. why is it not the other way round? why isnt school or work something that gets in the way of out worship? may Allah SWT make us all realise the impending reality of death. Ameen!
